Antique Pharmaceutical
Antique Drugs, poisons, pharmaceutical vials with original contents?
How old do they have to be to be considered antiques?
These were mostly made in England and Italy in the 1950′s and 1960′s, I think..
Does anyone know of any collectors, and would they be worth anything?
One of them is a Belladonna bottle, it’s empty but has a dark residue of the liquid inside the bottle which is still sealed, it was made by the William Ransom company in the 40′s.
Also Adrenalin and morphene injections, still in sealed boxes.
Also some kind of mercury in a powder or grain form, that is meant to be soluable in water… Among other stuff, cant remember the rest because its all packed away in boxes…
things from the 50′s- 60′s is considered vintage or a collectible not a antique

Pharmaceutical Bioassays $139 The definitive compendium of bioassay procedures and applications A virtual encyclopedia of key bioassay protocols, this up-to-date, essential resource reviews the methods and applications of bioassays that quantify drug activity and evaluate the validity of pharmacological models. Demonstrating the specific ways in which various pharmaceutical bioassays interpret the activity of drug molecules, the book covers the evaluation and screening of drug compounds in a wide spectrum of therapeutic categories. Throughout, the authors use various models to link experimental observations with findings that clarify the effect of drug compounds on cellular biology and measure the pharmacological activity of chemical substances. This provides an important technological platform for successful drug research and clinical therapy, making Pharmaceutical Bioassays an ideal sourcebook for pharmacologists, pharmaceutical and medical researchers, analytical chemists, toxicologists, and students. Just as a fundamental knowledge of pharmaceutical bioassays is vital to understanding how bioactive agents and new drugs are defined, discovered, and developed, so too is this indispensable reference, which: Offers a complete reference on pharmaceutical bioassays and their specific applications in the assessment of therapies for cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, epilepsy, inflammation, antimalarials, pharmacogenomics, and other major therapeutic areas Covers bioassays that measure toxicity, including those for chemical toxicity and hepatoxicity—a particularly significant consideration in the development of safe and tolerable medications Highlights clinically relevant methods, ideas, and techniques to support any pharmaceutical researcher Suggests guidelines and systems to enhance communication between pharmacologists, chemists, and biologists Provides an informative analysis of pharmaceutical bioassay technologies and lab applications |

Pharmaceutical Reform $24.99 This book applies an established analytical framework for health sector reform (Getting Health Reform Right, Oxford, 2004) to the performance problems of the pharmaceutical sector. The book is divided into three sections. The first section presents the basic ideas for analysis. It begins by insisting that reform start with a clear understanding of the performance deficiencies of the current system. Like all priority setting in the public sector, this ‘definition of the problem’ involves both ethical choices and political processes. Early chapters explain the foundations of these ideas and apply them to the pharmaceutical sector. The relationship of ultimate outcomes (like health status or risk protection) to classic health systems concepts like efficiency, access and quality is also explored. The last chapter in the first part is devoted to ‘diagnosis’—explaining how to move from the definition of a problem to an understanding of how the functioning of the system produces the undesirable outcomes in question. The second part of the book devotes one chapter to each of five ‘control knobs’: finance, payment, organization, regulation and persuasion. These are sets of potential interventions that governments can use to improve pharmaceutical sector performance. Each chapter presents basic concepts and discusses examples of reform options. Throughout we provide ‘conditional guidance’—avoiding the approach of a ‘one size fits all’ model of ‘best practices’ in these five arenas for reform. Instead we stress the need for local knowledge of political systems, administrative capacities, community values and market conditions in order to design pharmaceutical sector policies appropriate to a country’s particular circumstances. The last part of the book is a set of teaching cases. Each is preceded by questions and is followed by a brief note on the lessons to be learned. The goal is to help readers develop the skills they need to deal effectively with pharmaceutical sector reform problems in their own countries. |

Pharmaceutical Industry $54.86 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The earliest drugstores date back to the Middle Ages. The first known drugstore was opened by Arabian pharmacists in Baghdad in 754, and many more soon began operating throughout the medieval Islamic world and eventually medieval Europe. By the 19th century, many of the drug stores in Europe and North America had eventually developed into larger pharmaceutical companies. Most of todays major pharmaceutical companies were founded in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Key discoveries of the 1920s and 1930s, such as insulin and penicillin, became massmanufactured and distributed. Switzerland, Germany and Italy had particularly strong industries, with the UK, US, Belgium and the Netherlands following suit. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
