The Atlas of Anatomy $201.24 Anatomically correct We owe a great debt to Jean Baptiste Marc Bourgery (1797?1849) for his Atlas of Anatomy, which was not only a massive event in medical history, but also remains one of the most comprehensive and beautifully illustrated anatomical treatises ever published in any language. In 1830, having received his doctorate in medicine three years prior, Bourgery began work on his magnificent atlas in cooperation with illustrator Nicolas Henri Jacob (1782?1871), a student of the French painter Jacques Louis David. The first volumes were published the following year, but completion of the treatise required nearly two decades of dedication; Bourgery lived just long enough to finish his labor of love, but the last of the treatises eight volumes was not published in its entirety until five years after his death. The four parts of Bourgerys treatise cover descriptive anatomy, surgical anatomy and techniques (exploring in detail nearly all the major operations that were performed during the first half of the 19th century), general anatomy and embryology, and microscopic anatomy. Jacobs spectacular handcolored, lifesize lithographs are remarkable for their clarity, color, and aesthetic appeal, reflecting a combination of direct laboratory observation and illustrative research; the images are to this day unsurpassed in anatomical illustration. This reprint includes the complete color plates?726 in total?and will finally allow not only those in the medical field but also artists, students, and anyone interested in the study of the human body to appreciate this important historical work. Sonivox Anatomy $199 Sonivox Anatomy dares to be different, and was designed for users of KONTAKT 2 or 3. The 856 instruments that make up Anatomy are Sonivox’s re-imagination of the human form as an infinite template of sound. This virtual instrument collection includes some of the most unusual and uniquely playable instruments that twist and transform the human body into one expansive collection of physiological melody and rhythm. Sonivox Anatomy sonically explores the human condition in ways never dared previously, delivering a deep, diverse, and rich new palette of sounds full of color and texture. All the instruments in Anatomy are separated into 2 main categories: Man and Machine. Man features the more organic perspective. Hundreds of leads, pads, kits, and effects encompass the full sonic terrain and delicate inflection the human body can muster. Simply presented but expertly enhanced with real-time controllers for additional manipulation, Anatomy’s Man runs the gamut of singing and screaming, snoring and roaring. Machine, on the other hand, displays more lovingly effected and manipulated interpretations of the human condition as it might be perceived through the binary brain cells of a bloodless future race: agitated androids, slumbering cyborgs who dream of electric sheep, cinemascapes of hallucinatory terror and funhouse anxiety. Man and Machine feature the following instrument sub-categories: Pads and Leads 432 pan and lead presets, from the angelic to the eerie, abrasive to absurd, beautiful to booming. These dynamic and different instruments are all constructed to give you complete control. Examples include throat singing, humming, whistling, and much more. Drum Kits Long live the art of beat box percussion. This portion includes over 200 unique kit presets with a massive tool box of additional kicks and snares for even more flexibility. Boston beat box guru Steve Foxx stepped up to the mic and laid down a staggering array of sound that the SONiVOX design team edited and programmed into intuitively playable patches that are sure to suit every type of music, from rock and hip hop to acid jazz and electro funk. Making them even better, Anatomy’s kits are general MIDI compliant making them easily droppable into existing sequences. Body percussion As the names suggests, these 26 kits include snaps, claps, foot stomps, and heartbeats. Now you can get an audiences hearts pumping with utilizing a heart as the rhythm section and ultimate timekeeper. Foley and FX These 138 presets go from the ordinary to the extraordinarily strange – blips, burps, gurgles, growls, groans, nostril snorts, laughing, moaning, and simulated emotional breakdowns. There’s plenty to satisfy one’s appetite for the bizarre and unusual. Choirs These 29 presets |
