difference between 14k gold plated and 14k gold filled chains?

hi, i’ll like to ask what’s the difference between 14k gold plated and 14k gold filled. (in terms of costume jewellery gold chains) are they the same?

also, at an estimate, how much can i buy them for?

14k plated, means there is an electro thin plating of 14k gold. Therefore, the core that has the plating is a base metal or alloy (i.e. copper, etc.) Over time it can “chip” and wear down to the base metal.

14k filled means that it has more 14k content and is mixed with another metal (often copper). It is if they are “mixed” together aka filled.

So they are quite different.

Gold is at it’s most right now and filled is much more expensive overall. It costs more, but if its something you want to keep for a while…totally worth it.
